Gene Conn, age 80, of Rock Fork Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 26, 2007, at his residence. He was born December 5, 1926, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late William and Virgie Oney Conn. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy, Ray, Charlie and Carl Conn and one sister, Irene Brooks. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Velma Roe Conn, whom he wed December 24, 1949; one daughter, Carolyn Hickey and her husband Doug of Liberty, Tennessee; one grandson, Jeff Irvin and his wife Misty of Morehead, Kentucky; one brother, Roy Conn of Mansfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Gene was retired from McKinley Roofing Company in Mansfield, Ohio, and enjoyed training and showing horses. He attended the Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jay Stevens and the Rev. Rex Segraves officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Don Oney, Don Stevens, Jerome Bowen, Elwood Caudill, Randy Caudill, and Roger Thomas.
