Gary Filson Thompson, age 81, of Morehead, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born June 10, 1938, in Fleming County, he was a son of the late Louis and Nell Waddell Thompson.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.

Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Faye Ramey Thompson; two daughters, Ragen (William) Cooper of Louisville and Jesse (Norman) Nelson of Redding, California; and six grandchildren, Alexis Cooper, Madison Cooper, Jared Cooper, William Cooper, Josh Jarrard and Joel Jarrard.

Other survivors include three brothers, Donnie Thompson of Morehead, Tommy Thompson of Flemingsburg, and Carl Thompson of Massachusetts; three sisters, Betty Wallace of Ashland, Terri Moore and Jenny Russell, both of Ohio; special friends, Teddy Wright, Mike Cox, Scott Ledford, Larry Whisman, Jimmy Thacker., and Roger and Kelly Lewis.

Gary was a former construction worker and race car driver.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, driving the J5 dirt track race car, fishing, and classic cars.   He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2019, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals with a celebration of life beginning at 2 p.m. with Minister Mary Reedy officiating.
