Gary W. Short, 69, of South Magnolia Drive, Mt. Sterling, husband of Karen Oaks Short, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born February 25, 1951, in Montgomery County, he is the son of Virgaleen Karrick Short of Mt. Sterling and the late Paul Short. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Stewart Short, who passed away March 13, 2019.

In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen Oaks Short; one daughter, Melody Setters (Brent); six grandchildren, Ben Short (Bryanna), Caroline Short, Garrett Short, Conner Short, Patrick Setters, and Brody Setters; one great grandson, Blake Carter Short,  and a daughter-in-law, Joy Wilson Short, all of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Lana Short of Bath County, as well as extended family and friends.

Gary retired from Precision Resource where he worked in Quality Control.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, U.K. basketball, Green Bay Packers and Melody's bourbon balls.  Most of all, Gary loved his family and spending time with them.  He was a member of Gateway Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Gateway Christian Church with Dean Scott officiating.  Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

Pallbearers:  Ben Short, Garrett Short, Patrick Setters, Brent Setters, Bill Kilgore, and Anthony Howard.

Visitation for Gary W. Short is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Gateway Christian Church, 801 Winchester Road, Mt Sterling, KY 40353

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Gateway Christian Church.
