Obituary

Gary Lee Black, age 60, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011, at his residence. Born January 25, 1950, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Clifford and Pearl Pennington Black. Gary is survived by his wife, Sue Kendall Black; one son, Jeff (Felicia) Black of Morehead; one daughter, Melissa (Rich) Estes of Louisville; four grandchildren, Walker and Peyton Black and Nathan and Caitlyn Smith; four step grandchildren, Kim Day, Justin Hutson, Chris and Ashleigh Estes. Also surviving are one brother, Charles Black of Morehead; six sisters, Gail Kelly and Sheila Ferryman of Springfield, Ohio, Susan Wright of Clearfield, Beverly Black of Morehead, Denise Cox of Hillsboro, and Tannie Otis of Owingsville; and several nieces and nephews. Gary served in the U. S. Army from 1970 - 1972. He was the owner and operator of Black-s Pay Lake and former bus driver for Morehead Area Transit. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trading and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will be in Pennington Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Mick Sparrow, Terry Ferryman, Dougie Black, Nathan Smith, Rich Estes, and Mark Smith. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Tuesday, January 11, 2011, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 1 p.m. Interment: Pennington Cemetery
