Garnetta Smith Fouch, age 77, of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the U. K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born April 20, 1944, in Elliott County, she was the daughter of Beulah Smith who passed away on February 8, 2012. Garnetta was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, William H. "Bill" Fouch on April 27, 2010, and their beloved son, Victor Scott "Scotty" Fouch on December 14, 2018.
Garnetta is survived by a stepson, Billy Bruce Fouch and wife Kelly of Morehead; four step- grandchildren, Kellen and wife Kara, Patrick, Lilee, and Parker; brother- and sister-in-law, Tommy and Joan Fouch of Morehead; two nieces, Denise Spencer and Julie Fannin of Morehead; one nephew, Brian Fouch of Lexington; two aunts, Ada Debord of West Union, Ohio, and Ruth Fannin of Sandy Hook; one uncle, Worley Smith of Olive Hill, as well as cousins, extended family and friends, including Chester "Shorty" Boyd and lifelong friend, Lou Simmons.
Garnetta was a homemaker and former telephone operator for G.T.E. She enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening, nurturing beautiful flowers, and caring for animals, especially the family dogs. Another passion was decorating for Christmas, Scotty's favorite holiday. Beautiful decorations adorned her home both inside and outside and brought much joy to family, neighbors, friends, and passers-by. Garnetta's lifelong devotion and loving care was always focused on Scotty, whom she called "Heaven's Special Child." Garnetta attended the Haldeman Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ron Clatos officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Kellen Fouch, Patrick Fouch, Brian Fouch, Danny Boyd, Camron Boyd, and Richard Gamble.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
