Garnet Louise Lipp, age 89, of Cave Run Manor, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born January 10, 1922, in Paintsville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson -A. J.- Kirk and Peggy Williams Kirk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Drew Oppenheimer, Stan LaHah, and Everett Lipp, and one sister, Marda Joan Preston. Garnet is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lee Oppenheimer VanHoose and husband John of Bradenton, Florida; grandsons, Dr. John Samuel VanHoose II of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Jason Stephen VanHoose of Morehead, Kentucky; grandchildren, Alexandra Michelle VanHoose, Brenna Paige Young, John Samuel (Jack) VanHoose III, Justin Scott VanHoose, Andrea Leigh VanHoose and the late Jason Stephen VanHoose II. Also surviving is one sister, Jerry Ann Helton of Lexington, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. Garnet was an employee of First Federal in Paintsville for a number of years and retired from the State of Florida Health and Human Services. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 7 - 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
