Garnet Josephine Burley McKenzie, age 85, of Glaser Driver, Kettering, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Kettering Hospital, in Dayton, Ohio. She had resided in the Dayton, Ohio, area since 1942. Born July 30, 1922, in Ashland, Kentucky, Garnet was the daughter of the late Floyd and Hazel Pearl Brown Burley. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Virginia Burley. Garnet is survived by her husband of 59 years, William A. -Jack- McKenzie; her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah L. and Rocky Howard of Sabina, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Carol McKenzie of Monroe, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jessica and husband Julian MacGowan of Orlando, Florida; Christina Combs, Dayton, Ohio; Branham McKenzie and Leah McKenzie of Monroe, Ohio; one great grandchild, Alexis Combs; as well as two nephews, Michael and Ralph Burley of Kettering, Ohio. Garnet was a very special mother and grandmother. She will be missed by many. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Guy McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the New Alfrey Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Schwertfager, Julian MacGowan, F. M. Hall, Branham McKenzie, Bobby McKenzie, Gary McKenzie, and Dennis McKenzie.
