Hazel Garnet Sparks Adkins, age 86, of Piedmont Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 7, 1936, in Fitch, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Pearl Frances Sloan Sparks.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Raymond Odel Adkins, whom she married on December 29, 1955, and passed away on April 18, 2013; three brothers, Ray Sparks, Gene Sparks, and Tom Sparks; and two sisters, Sandi Carri and Cille Stephens.

Garnet is survived by her four children, Bruce Adkins and wife Patty of Morehead, Kentucky, Dale Adkins and wife Tara of Maysville, Kentucky, Vicki Adkins of Morehead, Kentucky and Connie Adkins Bowman and husband Donald of Morehead, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Ashley Adkins Withrow and husband Jeremy, Ryan Adkins and fiancée Tashena, Matthew Adkins and wife Carly, Elizabeth Bowman and Nicholas Bowman; and six great grandchildren, Ayden, Austin, Makayla, and Wade Adkins, and Raylee and Hadlee Withrow.

Also surviving is one sister, Sara "Sally" Kidd of Morehead; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

She was homemaker and a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed working crossword and word search puzzles, collecting McCoy stoneware and crocks, gardening, and working in her flowers.

Garnet adored her family and loved attending and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's school activities.  She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Fouch, Wayne Ferguson, Stevie Ferguson, and Tony Ferguson.

Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
