Freida L. Armstrong Switzer, age 77, of U. S. 60 West, Morehead, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014, at her residence. Born December 28, 1936, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Richmond Thomas and Maggie Gregory Armstrong. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, C. L. 'Booge' Armstrong, Wathan Armstrong, and Pete Armstrong. Her husband of 56 years, Roy Charles Switzer, whom she married July 2, 1954, passed away April 20, 2011. Freida is survived by six nephews, Tommy Armstrong, Michael Armstrong, Rick Armstrong, Stefan Armstrong, Preston Armstrong, and Butch Armstrong and his wife Debbie, who served as caregivers during her latest illness; two nieces, Yvonne Bradley and Debra Mikell; one great niece, Donna Woodall; several sisters-in-laws, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Freida was a graduate of Rowan County High School and the founder and owner of Freida's Antiques, which celebrated 50 years of business this year. She and Roy were especially well known for their creativity and craftsmanship in designing lamps and light fixtures. She loved working in her flowers, decorating her home, and collecting antiques. Freida was a member of Johnson First Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ben Furman and Rev. Mike Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Tommy Armstrong, Michael Armstrong, Vernon Lewis, Steve Perry, Nick Pecco, and Mark Poston. Visitation is from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
