Frank "Gayle" Porter, age 85, of Olive Hill, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Windsor Care in Mt. Sterling.

Born January 19, 1938, in Carter County, he was the son of the late Herman and Mae Porter.   Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kolene Harris Porter on April 27, 1997; one son, Keith Allen Porter on January 31, 2000; and two grandsons, Herman Porter on June 10, 1986 and Branden Keith Porter on June 8, 2021

Gayle is survived by two daughters, Carol Kelsey (Bill) of Morehead and Sheila Porter P'Simer of Olive Hill; a daughter-in-law, Robin Porter of Olive Hill; a half-sister, Betty Menshouse of Ashland; four grandchildren, Nathan Porter, Samuel Kelsey, Tanner P'Simer, and Andrew Kelsey; five great-grandchildren, Jaxen Porter, Kristen Porter, Bodhi Porter, Layne Porter, and Haivyn Kelsey; and other extended family and friends.

Gayle, a life-long farmer, retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department, and was a former truck driver. He served six years in the Army National Guard and was faithful member of Fairview Methodist Church.

He loved riding his side by side, watching his cattle, and driving to town to get a bite to eat and socialize. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and playing with his dog.  Gayle will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel Pastor John Lambert officiating.  Burial will follow in W. A. Porter Family Cemetery, 5633 State Hwy. 955, Olive Hill, KY 41164. Military honors will be presented at graveside by Morehead American Legion Post 126.

Pallbearers: Tanner P'Simer, Samuel Kelsey, Nathan Porter, Jaxen Porter, Larry Porter, and Herman Conn.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
