Frances Jean Wells, 88, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in Lakeland, Florida.

Born on June 14, 1935, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Denzel Wells and Minnie Lowe Wells. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Anna Lee Morrison, Myrtle White, Calvin Wells and grandson Jeffrey.

She is survived by her son Jeff (Sherry) Wells and granddaughter Jaquelyn, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jean was a 1953 graduate of Morehead High School and enjoyed her life-long career at Morehead State University where she retired as Director of Food Services. She was a member of First Church of God in Morehead.

She loved working and spending time with her friends.  Jean was a strong independent woman who showed her heart and compassion for others. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Randy Wagoner officiating.  Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery (Woodsbend) in Morgan County.

Pallbearers:  David Adkins, Michael Campbell, Leonard Franklin, Mitch Jones, Tad Jones, Jeff Tilford, and Steve Vance.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
