Forest Edgar Rivers, age 84, of Fleming Fork, Olive Hill, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the V.A. Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Born February 23, 1931, in Carter County, he was a son of the late Forest Edwin and Alma J. Hamm Rivers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and one granddaughter, Kayla Hinton. He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffery and Annetia Rivers, James and Freida Rivers, Bobby and Cindy Rivers, all of Olive Hill, and Monte and Melinda Rivers of Morehead; two daughters, Veronica Hinton and Vicki Rivers, both of Olive Hill; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Cletis Eugene Rivers of New Castle, Indiana, and Millard Raymond Rivers of Kittanning, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Barbara Henson and Opal Bowling, both of Olive Hill, several nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends. Forest was a Korean War veteran, having served as a Military Police in the U.S. Army and was a retired logger and farmer. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Carter County with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ronnie Rivers, Amos Rivers, Mason Rivers, Montgomery Rivers, Christian Rivers, Phillip Hinton, Matthew Hanshaw, and Chase Hanshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Clarissa Douglas, Melinda Rivers, and Morgan Rivers. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015, and after 9 a.m. Sunday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
