Obituary

Flora Lee Dillon Brown, age 85, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer's at Angel's Touch Personal Care Home in St. Albans, West Virginia. Born December 13, 1930, in Rowan County, Flora was the daughter of the late Albert Dillon and Nola Lee Royce Dillon Richardson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rudell Dillon, and a special nephew, Ronald A. Dillon. Flora Lee is survived by her husband of 67 years, Seldon A. Brown, whom she married December 31, 1948; one son, Timothy L. Brown and wife Vanessa; one grandson, Tristan H. Brown, all of Procious, West Virginia; one brother, Eldon Ray Dillon and wife Ida Belle of Elliottville; special nieces and nephew, Wanda M. Dillon, Helen R. Dillon, and Sandra S. Dillon, Sharon Shanklin, and Jack Shanklin, Jr.; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. She graduated from Morehead High School, Class of 1949, and was the co-owner and office manager of Seldon A. Brown Plumbing in Dunbar, West Virginia, for 50 years. She was the manager at Ray's Variety Store in Dunbar, West Virginia, from 1952 to 1962, and office manager at Pick Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, West Virginia, during the 1960's. Flora Lee brought joy to others through her applesauce cake and downhome cooking. She helped and counseled many friends and family with the love of her charitable soul. Flora Lee lived her life as a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and improved the world of those around her through a kind and peaceful manner. The family would like to thank the owners and staff at Angel's Touch Personal Care Home in St. Albans, West Virginia, for making Flora's last year pleasant and comfortable. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p. m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Wanda H. Butts and Elder Clyde Mays, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in James A. Dillon Cemetery on Dry Creek Road. Pallbearers: Timothy Brown, Tristan Brown, Jack Shanklin, Jr., Michael Bennett, Andrew Dillon, and Clyde Mays, Jr. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
