Ferne James Pennington, 92, of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 13, 1923, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Ora and Maude Fouch James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Ferne was united in marriage to William Curtis Pennington, October 26, 1940, and they would have been married 75 years this October. Curt passed away August 12, 2009. She is survived by two children, Sharon P. Lewis and Gary C. Pennington, both of Morehead; three grandchildren, Nikki J. Rushka (Shannon), C. Michael Dann (Jennifer), Chance W. Pennington (Randy); five great grandchildren, Christian Mabry, Joshua and Johnny Bradley, Cheyanne and Shay Dann; one great-great granddaughter, Madeline Mabry. Also surviving are several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Mrs. Pennington was a lifelong member of Elliottville Baptist Church, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and witnessed her faith every day. She retired as a bank teller from Peoples Bank of Morehead after 27 years and enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, baking, and remodeling her home. She loved her pets and spoiling her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Pastor Willie Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Michael Dann, Christian Mabry, Timothy James, Freddy James, Travis Beamon, C. J. Baker. Honorary pallbearers: Phillip Black, Robert Fouch, Shannon Rushka. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 or Alzheimer's Association, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Ln., Ste. 401, Louisville, KY 40205 Visitation: Tuesday, June 23, 2015, 5 p.m., Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Funeral: Wednesday, June 24, 2015, 11 a.m., Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel Interment: Brown Cemetery
