Faye Davis Pelfrey, age 92, of Bratton Branch, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at UK – St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born October 1, 1933, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Nannie Charles Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Carl Madison Pelfrey; four brothers, Russell Davis, Chalmer Davis, Hayward Davis, and Bobbie Z. Davis; and three sisters, Ethel Caskey, Christine Combs, and Elsie Lewis.
Faye is survived by her four children: Carl Pelfrey Jr. and Steven Pelfrey, both of Morehead; Vernon Pelfrey (Sandra) of Harrodsburg; and Carole Swanson Crowder (Greg) of Madison, North Carolina. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Cindy Pelfrey, Clineon Paul Pelfrey, Erica Swanson, Megan Pelfrey, and Stephanie Pelfrey; six greatgrandchildren, Tiffany Turner, Amy Turner, Zachary Turner, Layne Pelfrey, DaNolan Hampton, and Caleb Diller; three great-great grandchildren, Bentley, Bryce, and Eric Turner; a host of nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends.
For many years, she and her sister Ethel owned and operated E & F Upholstery and formerly worked at Cowden's Manufacturing. She spent countless hours and continued to operate Pelfrey's Pay Lake alongside her sons. In her younger years she enjoyed fishing and watching others fish. Faye was a devoted member of Sharkey Baptist Church for more than 25 years.
She found great joy in gardening, tending to her flowers, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered for her kind heart, strong faith, and devotion to her family and community.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Harley Sexton Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Warren Cemetery on Sugar Loaf Mountain Road in Morehead.
Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
