Exie Jones Nelson, age 74, of Old House Creek, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at the Hilltop Lodge in Owingsville, Kentucky. Born June 25, 1935, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Tad and Martha Robards Jones. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Norman Nelson. Mrs. Nelson is survived by three daughters, Verna Nelson of Paris, Kentucky, Catherine Louise Pernell and Victoria Lee Pernell, both of Morehead, Kentucky; two sons, Paris Nelson of Morehead, Kentucky, and Hershel Nelson of Danville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Exie was a homemaker and a gifted person who built her own house and loved quilting and making crafts. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery on Dry Creek Road, Morehead. Pallbearers will be William Profitt, Kenny Profitt, David Cochrane, Paris Joseph Nelson, Patrick Ryan Nelson, Brian Price, Marvin Ratliff, and Roy Calton.
