Obituary

Ethel Pearl Toler Elkins, age 89, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, formerly of Owingsville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 19, 2010. Ethel was born June 20, 1920, in Logan County, West Virginia, daughter of the late D. B. and Rebecca Wright Toler. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Ron, Ray, Walter, and Ernest Clayton Toler. Ethel-s husband, Howard Elkins, passed away May 30, 1980. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Ann Perdue and husband John of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; three sons, Richard Lee Elkins and wife Fran of Milton, Florida, Phillip Gene Elkins of Owingsville, Kentucky, Gregory Allan Elkins and wife Cindy of Milford, Delaware; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters and their husbands, Elsie and Henry Fraley of Georgetown, Kentucky, Betty Staton and Herman Watts of Winchester, Kentucky, Joyce and David Plummer of Marion, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. Ethel was a homemaker, a former member of the Morehead Homemakers Club, and a long-time member of the Polksville Church of God, where she was also a Sunday school teacher. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010, with the Rev. Lowell C. Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery. Visitation is after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
