Esther Pearl Weskamp Thomas, age 91, of Morehead, Kentucky, widow of Claudie B. Thomas, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Hilltop Nursing Center in Owingsville, Kentucky. She was born May 29, 1919, in Manzanola, Colorado, daughter of William Joseph Weskamp and Ada Whitmire Weskamp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Willis, George, Otto, and Fred Weskamp. Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Claudie B. Thomas, on September 10, 2006. Esther and Claudie were united in marriage May 18, 1963, in San Jose, California. They enjoyed working and traveling throughout the United States-from Florida to Alaska. Esther and Claudie returned to Rowan County during the seventies. They were members of Holly Fork Baptist Church. Esther is survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in law: Ruby Elam, James and Dottie Thomas, Vinda Moore, Mary Jane Kidd, Clyde and Charlotte Thomas, Bonnie Wood, and Louella Thomas, of Morehead, Kentucky; Sue and Bob Hardin and Madge Elliott, of Clearfield, Kentucky; and Clayton and Jean Thomas of Hertford, North Carolina. She will also be lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow at the Hamilton Cemetery on Christy Creek. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
