Obituary

Ernie Lee Johnson, age 62, of Morgan Fork Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the V. A. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born March 23, 1950, in Rowan County, Kentucky, Ernie was the son of the late Joe Dickie Johnson and Linda Gregory Johnson Lowe. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Kenneth, Glendon, Ronald, Dean, Raymond, Gary, and Michael Johnson. Ernie is survived by his wife, Barbara Jones Johnson, whom he married July 26, 1969, and their very dear friend, Robin Greenfield; one brother, Rex Johnson and wife Helen of Winchester, Kentucky; and one sister, Carolyn Brown and husband Paul of Morehead, Kentucky. Ernie was a U.S. Army veteran. He owned and operated Ernie-s Small Engine Repair for 23 years after working 13 years as a coal miner in Pike County, Kentucky. He enjoyed motorcycling, fishing, and hunting. He and Barb also enjoyed being Ham radio operators and their special cats, Sassy and Taz. Ernie was a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654 and American Legion Post No. 126. He attended Wallingford Christian Holiness Church. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tom Redmon, Brother Charlie Hamm, and Brother Scott Cummins officiating. Burial will follow at Ditney Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Active Pallbearers: Brandon Hamm, Ray Stafford, Shane Wall, Johnny Johnson, Gary Thompson, and Eddie Stacy. Honorary Pallbearers: Justin Perkins, Nathan May, James Damron, and Will, Geddy, and Matthew Walker. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Masonic Rites to be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654. Visitation: Saturday, May 12, 2012, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, May 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. Interment: Ditney Cemetery
