Ernest J. McKenzie, 93, of Morehead, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at the Life Care Center of Morehead. He was born September 30, 1914, at Warrix Run in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Zachary Taylor and Hattie Elliott McKenzie. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie M. Hall McKenzie on November 22, 2003; three brothers, Fant McKenzie, Odic McKenzie, and Cliff McKenzie; three sisters, Zona Hardin, Golda Armstrong, and Pearl Holler; one great grandson, Justin Stewart. Mr. McKenzie is survived by four sons: Ramah McKenzie of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Gary McKenzie of Deland, Florida; Keith McKenzie of Morehead, Kentucky; and Tony McKenzie of Arlington, Virginia; one daughter: Pam Miles of Eastlake, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Mr. McKenzie had been a sawyer all of his life. He had been self-employed as well as a former employee of local lumber companies including Ray White Lumber, Gene White Lumber, and Joe Greer Lumber. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Guy McKenzie and the Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Saturday, February 16, 2008, after 6 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, February 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. Interment: ew Alfrey Cemetery
