Obituary

Emmitt -Jack- Franklin Gearhart, age 80, of Rawcel Heights, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010, at his residence. Born March 17, 1930, in Carter County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Eddie and Antha Holbrook Gearhart. Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorthy Louise Ferguson Gearhart, whom he married July 1, 1953; one son, Eddie Powell Gearhart of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters, Debra Russell and husband Byrl of Morehead, Kentucky, and Donna Christian of Morehead, Kentucky; four grandchildren, James and Michael Christian and Wade and Lisa Clevenger; and four great grandchildren, Dylan and Daniel Clevenger, Aaron Christian and Kylee Evans. Mr. Gearhart served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Jack was a people person who enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, and always seeing the best in everyone. He was an active member of Hayes Branch Community Church. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Phillip Fraley and Brother Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in Gearhart Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be James Christian, Michael Christian, Wade Clevenger, Huey Evans, Dylan Clevenger, and Daniel Clevenger. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Friday, August 20, 2010, after 5p.m. Funeral: Saturday, August 21, 1010, at 1 p.m. Interment: Gearhart Cemetery, Olive Hill, KY
