Emery Alma Caudill, age 96, of Crawford Bend Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Kentucky. He was born December 5, 1915, at Blaze, in Morgan County, Kentucky, the youngest of ten children of the late John T. and Martha Black Caudill. Emery is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lovell Pettit Caudill, whom he wed March 15, 1945; one son, Don Caudill of Lexington, Kentucky; one daughter, Norma Hill of Richmond, Kentucky; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Emery, a World War II Army veteran, served from 1939 until 1945 in the Normandy, Northern France, and Germany Campaigns. A member of Patton's Third Army during World War II, he was in the Battle of the Bulge. Emery was the recipient of the EAME Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, American Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart. He retired from IBM in Lexington following 15 years of service. He was a longtime member of Little Mary Church at Maxey Flats. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Elder Lonnie Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Grange City with full military honors by Flemingsburg American Legion Post No. 5. Visitation is 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Kentucky.
