Elwood Pernell, age 72, of Clearfield Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 21, 2007, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born January 8, 1935, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Robbie and Lula Fultz Pernell. Survivors include his wife, Bessie McGlothin Pernell, whom he married September 30, 1983; one son, Elwood Pernell Jr. of Morehead; two daughters, Brenda Kay Pernell May and husband Ron and Barbara Ann Cook, all of Monticello, Indiana; and three grandchildren, Mike Cole, Martha Ann Niece, and Cory Niece. Elwood was self-employed with Pernell Window Washing in Lafayette, Indiana, and Morehead, Kentucky. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Morehead. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2007, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with the Rev. Molly Smothers officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Elders of the First Christian Church. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
