Art Litton, age 82, of Windstar Lane, Morehead, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Elmer Ardith (Art) Litton was born December 19, 1933, in Elliott County, the son of James Henry Litton and Ella Rae Black Litton. Art was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shelby Jean Carter Litton, who passed away August 21, 2010; a son, Kevin Ardith Litton on October 18, 2015; and six brothers and sisters, James Ray Litton, John Dallas Litton, Edward Orear Litton, Lillian Faye Litton Ferguson, Grace Pauline Litton Bishop, and George Everett Litton. He is survived by one sister, Patty Lou Litton Jones of Dayton, Ohio; one daughter, Anita Carol Litton Hendricksen and husband Mark of Lexington; and three grandchildren, Halle Litton, Alivia Litton, and Carter Hendricksen. Art graduated from Sandy Hook High School at age 16 and attended Morehead State University from 1950-1955, earning a B.S. degree. Following his graduation, Art immediately joined the U.S. Army for a period of two years, serving one year in the states and one year in Germany. After his discharge, Art was immediately employed at Litton and Zachary Ford in Flemingsburg, met Shelby, the love of his life, and married in September 1958. Later, Littons purchased Mr. Zachary's interest and Art was part owner for a period of 53 years, with the exception of a one-year employment by Tennessee Gas. For the past 10 years, he had helped his son Kevin in making his business very successful. Art served in many positions at the Clearfield Tabernacle before coming to the First Church of God. He was an usher for more than 50 years while attending both churches. He was also chairman of the church board, president of the men's group, taught Sunday school, and drove a church bus. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Allan Hutchinson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Pallbearers: Allen Bradley, Gary Lewis, Louie Whitt, Marty McCleese, Kevin Anderson, Grover 'Bob' Jones, Jimmy Walton, and Bob Trent. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
