Eliene Carter Cox, age 80, of Stark Ridge, Elliott County, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Life Care Center in Morehead, Kentucky. She was born September 26, 1927, in Elliott County, and was the daughter of the late John Robin and Dovie Lee Scaggs Carter. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Clella Carter, Oral Carter, Johnie Carter, and Ezra Carter, and two sisters, Flossie McDaniel and Majal Utterback. Her husband of 54 years, Columbus Cox, passed away January 10, 2007. She is survived by one sister, Lizzie Lambert of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Calvin Utterback of Morehead, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Iva Carter of Elliott County, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. Eliene retired from Cowden Manufacturing in Morehead after 28 years of service. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, music, gardening, and farming and attended the Beartown United Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Austin Carter and Rev. Elijah Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in the John Carter Cemetery in Elliott County. Pallbearers will be Roger Utterback, Rodney Wagoner, Tony Wagoner, Kenneth Carter, Adam Carter, Anthony Leadingham, Lowell Carter, and Jim Goodpaster.
