Obituary

Elbert Chester McKinney, age 74, of KY Hwy 519, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at his residence. Born March 23, 1941, in Morgan County, he was the son of the late William 'Harold' and Lorene Donahue McKinney. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Pettit, and one great grandson, Colby Moore. Elbert is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Linda Wolfe McKinney; five daughters, Carol Moore of Morehead, Sandy (Terry) Neace of Hazard, Jenny McKinney of Owasso, Oklahoma, Crystal (Scott) Brown of Morehead, and Kim (Todd) Monroe of Georgetown; two sons, Eric (Selena) McKinney of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and David (Kim) Eldridge of Vanceburg; 16 grandchildren, Harris, Donald, Ken, Earl Elbert, Daniel, Luke, Emma, Chris, Josh, Chance, Jayce, Ethan, Morgan, Autumn, Kalle, and Hayden; and 5 great grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers, Flavis (Janette) McKinney of Morehead, Robert (Norma) McKinney of West Liberty, Burnel (Joyce) McKinney of Campton, and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Elbert was a self-employed logger and lifelong farmer and trader. He enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening and received great joy sharing his homegrown vegetables with family and friends. Elbert was a devoted husband and family man who especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a Christian and attended Lakeview Community Church. Elbert will be sadly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Lakeview Community Church (581 Cave Run Lake Road, Salt Lick) with the Rev. James Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the McKinney Cemetery. Family will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Visitation is Friday, September 4, 2015, from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Friday, September 4, 2015, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m..
