Obituary

Edwin E. Winkle, 90, of Richmond, Indiana, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, surrounded by family. He was born on August 19, 1921, in Springfield, Ohio, to George and Lessie Faye Stringfellow Winkle. He spent several years in California but has lived in the Richmond area most of his life. Edwin proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a Private First Class of the 45th Quartermaster Company from 1942-1946. He specialized in automotive mechanics and utilized these skills throughout his life working at Chrysler and Raper Dodge. He also worked at Millers Milkhouse for many years after retirement. He truly enjoyed taking long hand held walks with his loving wife, spending time with family, playing horseshoes and softball and working puzzle books in his later years. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Kenny Winkle, Michael Winkle and Kenneth Watson; one daughter, Sandy Turner, and three brothers, Harold, Junior and Don Winkle. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Fostella Pennington Winkle; their daughter, Edwina Winkle of Richmond, Indiana; four sons, Jeff Watson, Wendell Winkle, Terry Winkle and David Winkle, all of Morehead, Kentucky; daughter, Joy Adams of Ohio; two sisters, Vi and Wilma; two brothers, Bob and Jim; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals with funeral services immediately following at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Pennington Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, KY. Visitation: Sunday, May 27, 2012, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, May 27, 2012, at 4 p.m. Interment: Pennington Cemetery
