Obituary

Rev. Edward Ford Hinton, age 90, of Evans Sisters Road, Hillsboro, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg. Born October 22, 1925, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Edward Harrison Hinton and Ina Pearl Hamm Hinton. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Ivan Lee Hinton and RG Hinton, and four sisters, Dorothy Hinton Lewis, Golda Hinton Newsom, Lorene Hinton Goodwin, and Lucille Hinton Newsom. His wife of 68 years, Henrietta Muse Hinton, whom he wed October 20, 1943, preceded him in death on July 10, 2012. Rev. Hinton is survived by three children, William Edward 'Billy' Hinton and wife Lynda, Rev. Jack Hinton and wife Nettie, and Cynthia Hinton 'Cindy' Thompson and husband Randy, all of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Sherry Blevins, Carry Harris, and Adam Ford Hinton; three great grandchildren, Cameron Ford Hinton, Micah Jo Hinton, and Isaac Dale Harris; one sister, Aline Hinton Gulley of Flemingsburg; and sister-in-law, Anna Jewell Mullins of Hillsboro. Rev. Hinton, a World War II Army veteran, served from 1944 until 1946 in Belgium, Northern France, Germany, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns. A member of Patton's Third Army during World War II, and was in the Battle of the Bulge. Ford was the recipient of the EAME Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal World War II. Rev. Hinton was an ordained minister of the Kentucky Christian Conference for 60 years. He pastored churches in Fleming, Rowan, Carter, and Lewis counties in Kentucky and also in Ohio. He also served as a minister at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home and later continued to minister while he was a resident at Pioneer Trace. He was a retired farmer and enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing and playing his guitar, and especially spending time with his family and friends. Rev. Hinton was a lifelong member of the Muses Mills Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Billie Wagoner and Rev. George Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented at the graveside by W.N. Fant American Legion Post No. 5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834. Pallbearers: Adam Ford Hinton, Cameron Ford Hinton, Isaac Dale Harris, Mark Mullins II, Harold 'Hoppie' Himes, William 'Billy' Dyer, and Clell Knapp. Honorary pallbearers: Rev. Kenny Fouch, Rev. Clifford Muse, Rev. Jerry McRoberts, Rev. Darry Cooper, Rev. Edward Porter, and Rev. Charlie Hamm. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Northcutt &Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Wednesday, January 27, 2016, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. Interment: Fleming County Cemetery
