Edward Ray Elam, age 80, of Ottist Elam Trail, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at his residence.

Born June 1, 1943, in Lexington, he was the son of the late Thomas Edward "Ed" Elam and Ottist White Elam.

Ray is survived by his wife, Margie Hall Elam; three sons, Joe Elam (Patti) of Lexington, Nicky Ray Elam (Risa) and Ricky Jay Elam (Ruth Ann), all of Morehead; three grandchildren, Dr. Tyler Jay Harrison Elam, Loni Larae Elam, and Rachel Morgan Elam; and numerous great grandchildren.

Other survivors include one sister, Patricia Kay Lowery of Ft. Pierce, Florida; one nephew, Eddie Black; extended family and many friends.

Ray retired after 26 years of service with GTE as a lineman. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, archery, hunting, and boating. Ray will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Morehead First Free Will Baptist Church (500 Bluestone Road) with Pastor Joey Damron, Pastor Jared DeAtley and Dr. Tyler Elam officiating.  The service will be live streamed at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page beginning at 1 p.m.
