Edward Earl "Ed" Deuberry, Jr., age 75, of Pine Grove Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born May 9, 1948, in Gary, Indiana, he was a son of the late Edward E. Deuberry, Sr. and Ruth M. Youngmark Deuberry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tracey E. Deuberry, and one sister, Carole Boatright.
Ed is survived by his wife of 40 years, April Dillon Deuberry, whom he married January 14, 1983; one daughter, Tamara L. Way (Kerry) of Lapel, Indiana; one son, Gregory L. Mulkey (Crissa) of Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Lindsay, Ashley, Hunter, Jacob, Nathan, and Kate; and five great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four brothers, Bob Deuberry (Jeanna) and John Deuberry, all of Anderson, Indiana, Jeff Deuberry (Mary) of Chesterton, Indiana, and Jim Deuberry (Christy) of New Buffalo, Michigan; four sisters, Ruth Ann Gribble (Al) of North Carolina, Bette Kamaski (Al) of Chesterton, Indiana, Donna Rhoda of Hebron, Indiana, and Judy Arzola of Valparaiso, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
Ed was a 1966 graduate of Chesterton High School in Chesterton, Indiana, where he played football and was a member of the wrestling team. In 1967 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for two years as a data processing machine operator. After the military, he developed Procom Construction Company, was an estimator for Butz Lumber, and built high-end homes in Indiana. He also worked for a company that installed ramps, steps and so forth to provide handicap accessibility for retired military. Additionally, he was a health insurance agent for some time.
Ed and April moved to Rowan County in 2018. They enjoyed remodeling the farm house and building an addition to meet the needs of the family. Spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and extended family was most important to Ed. Among their many activities, they especially enjoyed making memories singing karaoke style. He also enjoyed bowling, reading, studying military history, attending air shows, and boating and fishing (especially on the ocean).
Ed attended the Sharkey Baptist Church.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Harley Sexton, Jr., and Pastor Elijah Sexton officiating.
Burial will follow in Crix Cemetery with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion 126. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation for Ed Deuberry will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
