Edsel R. White, Sr., age 79, of Morehead Road, Wallingford, Kentucky, formerly of Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013, at his residence. Born January 31, 1934, in Rowan County, Kentucky, Edsel was the son of the late James Monroe and Bertha Collins White. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Orville, Allie, Wayne, James, and Denver White; one sister, Roxie Johnson; one grandson, Thomas M. 'Tommy' Ferritto-White; and great grandson, Shelby White. Edsel's wife of 57 years, Joye Catherine Stephens White, whom he married May 21, 1953, preceded him in death on September 2, 2010. He is survived by three sons, Edsel White Jr., and Linda and Timothy White and Janet, all of Clearfield, Kentucky, and Allie White and Cathy of Wallingford, Kentucky; one daughter, Teketa Upchurch and Billy of Allons, Tennessee; one stepson, Johnnie Schinsky and Freda of Bear Creek, North Carolina; three sisters, Arlena Webb of Middletown, Ohio, Leona Matney of Mansfield, Ohio, and Rosemary Wright of Morehead, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends. Edsel retired from the City of Morehead in 1986 after 18 years as a driver of the Morehead Area Transit bus. He was also a former construction worker and heavy equipment operator on the Cave Run Dam project and a former employee of Lee Clay Products in Clearfield. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at the Clearfield Cemetery with Paris Ferguson officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe Holbrook, Allie White, Jr., Dustin White, Justin Reynolds, Joe Carpenter, and Anthony Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be Brendan Johnson, Blake Johnson, Chester White, Brady White, Leonard Trent, and Mickey White. Visitation is 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
