Edgar Donald Waddle, age 84, of Old River Road, Salt Lick, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at his residence. He was born December 17, 1932, in Somerset, a son of the late Glenn Gover Waddle and Berda Mae Canada Waddle. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Quarles 'Odell' Waddle, Charles Waddle, and Thomas Waddle; and two sisters, Ola Jean Dick and Mary Howard. Edgar's wife of 57 years, Phyllis Jean Dyer Waddle, whom he wed April 4, 1955, passed away on June 15, 2012. He is survived by two sons, Donald R. Waddle and David W. Waddle; one daughter, Donna Jean Waddle Ball; two grandchildren, Samantha Jean Waddle and Jamie Daniel Ball; and two great grandchildren, Paisley and Chloe Pergram, all of Salt Lick. Other survivors include one brother, Carl Waddle of Oxford, Indiana; one sister, Catherine Bates of Somerset; and several nieces and nephews. Edgar was a U.S. Air Force veteran after serving from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He was the co-founder of Cave Run Cabins in 1975 and later he and the family owned and operated Cave Run Lodging in Farmers. Edgar enjoyed coon hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren who brought him great joy on a daily basis. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
