Eddie A. "Ed" Dehart, age 74, of Big Perry Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at his residence. He was born November 20, 1942, in Rowan County, a son of the late Levi and Vada Jones Dehart. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Midford Dehart, James Atley Dehart, and Paul Dehart; and one sister, Patty Ann Dehart. Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly Hileman Dehart, whom he married January 6, 1962; six children, Debra Lynn Dehart Hudson (Johnathan) of Morehead, Eddie Duane Dehart (Lori) of Morehead, Deanna Sue Dehart Boggs (Richard) of Olive Hill, Kimberly Dawn Dehart of Morehead, Kelli Leanne Dehart Barker (Darren) of Olive Hill, and Karla Suzanne Dehart Greene (Michael) of Salt Lick; three granddaughters, Nicole Cline, Mikalea Greene, and Kadee Barker; 12 grandsons, Stevie Crail, Dustin Hale, Jared Ravenscraft, Josh Ravenscraft, Luke Goforth, Dylan Stevens, Caleb Arnett, Jacob Barker, Bradyn Flener, Benjamin Dehart, Jaxon White, and Jordan Barker; and two great grandsons, Ayden Smedley and Noah Hale. Other survivors include one brother, Ray Dehart of Morehead; four sisters, Eunice Richardson and Virginia Rutherford, both of Mooresville, Indiana, Margaret Cox of Morehead and Fern Williams of Chesapeake, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends. Ed retired in 2016 as a heavy equipment operator for the Walker Construction Company in Mt. Sterling. He started his career with Ray L. White & Sons Lumber Company in 1960 and later worked for Shannon and Hurd Construction Company in Flemingsburg and Addington Coal Company. He loved his job and co-workers and always took pride in his work. Ed worked until he was 73 years old and loved it so much he continued to return to the job whenever he was needed. He loved his family and friends. Ed enjoyed all the holiday gatherings with the family, and especially spending time with the grandkids, attending their sport events, taking them fishing, sitting on the porch playing a game of checkers, telling them stories, or just talking with them. They all loved their Papaw Ed. Ed also enjoyed mowing, weed eating, working in his garage, taking walks, visiting with his friends, and watching NASCAR on Sunday afternoons. Ed attended the Morehead First Church of the Nazarene and the East End Church of God in Morehead and enjoyed visiting the Globe Christian Church. He was saved and baptized at the Rock Fork Christian Church in Morehead. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Rayburn, Pastor Tim Thomas, Brother Butch Kelsey, and Brother Ray Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Morehead. Pallbearers will be his son, Duane Dehart, and grandsons, Stevie Crail, Dustin Hale, Jared Ravenscraft, Josh Ravenscraft, Luke Goforth, Dylan Stevens, Caleb Arnett, Jacob Barker, Bradyn Flener, Benjamin Dehart, Jaxon White, and Jordan Barker. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ravenscraft, Bob Gregory, Ronnie Cooley, Tony Cooley, John Paul Burchett, Vincin Plank, and Curt Plank. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Morehead First Church of the Nazarene, 606 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
