Obituary

Earl Leroy (Roy) Lyons, age 80, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born October 23, 1931, in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Leonard and Laura Stevens Lyons. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleo Lyons in 1974 and Elva Eugene Lyons in 2006; and one sister, Joyce Ray in 2001. Roy is survived by one sister, Rosella May and husband Vernon of Morehead, Kentucky; one brother, Clyde Lyons and wife Margaret of Shirley, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Roy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from the Chrysler Corporation in Indianapolis, Indiana. He loved flea markets, talking with people, telling jokes and reading. Roy attended Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Landon Bradley and Pastor Phillip Fraley officiating. Burial will follow in the Fultz Cemetery, Greasy Creek, Carter County, Kentucky, with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Bodie Stevens, Kenny Lyons, Byron Lyons, Cleo Lyons, Wayne Stevens, Tanner Utterback, and Roger Utterback. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Wednesday, May 30, 2012, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. Interment: Fultz Cemetery , Carter County
