Earl E. Oney, age 89, of Oney Hollow, Morehead, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015, at his residence with family by his side. He was born October 12, 1926, in Rowan County, a son of Tom and Reney Fraley Oney. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Mae Rigney, Maude Johnson, Edith White, Violet White, Lucille Oney, and Catherine Oney; four brothers,Virgil Oney, Ernest Oney, Eugene Oney, and Delbert Oney; and two great granddaughters. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Nelliree Mabry Oney, whom he married June 16, 1948; one son, Don and Jenny Oney of Morehead; two daughters, Linda and Dale Hinton of Middleburg, Florida, and Patty and Billy Hough of Morehead. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Ron Hinton, Middleburg, Florida; Robbie and Tracy Hinton, Orange Park, Florida; Brian and Jennifer Hinton, Middleburg, Florida; Whitney and Tyler Ginn, Flemingsburg; and Patrick Oney and Miranda of Morehead, and six great grandchildren: Brittney Hinton, Green Cove Springs, Florida; Caitlin Hinton and Wyatt Hinton, Orange Park, Florida; Colton Hinton and Brantley Hinton, Middleburg, Florida; and Bentleigh Oney of Morehead. He is also survived by one sister, Mildred Smith of Sebring, Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. Oney was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from LTV Steel in South Chicago, Illinois, and enjoyed farming, raising horses and mules, and serving the Lord. He was a member of the Haldeman Church of God and also attended the East End Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Ray Glover and Brother Rex Sagraves officiating. Burial will follow in Oney Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Grandsons and Jerome Bowen will serve as pallbearers. His granddaughter and great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
