Dwight Smith, aged 71, of H. Hall Road, Clearfield, KY, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018, with his wife Nellie by his side at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born July 9, 1947, in Wayne County, he is the son of Toni Anderson Smith of Monticello and the late John Howard Smith. He is also survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nellie Coomes Smith; one son, Buddy Smith and wife Holly of Bradenton, Florida; one daughter, Sheri Nell Smith of Orlando, Florida; four beloved "Z-Pack" grandchildren, Zac, Zoe, Zara, and Zander. Dwight and Nellie owned Smith's Sports Center for almost 25 years. Over 20 years later, Dwight still received pictures/comments about their customized sweatshirts that are still treasured. He loved all sports, especially softball, and was a strong supporter of MSU basketball. Dwight and Nellie loved to travel and visited 47 states. Motorcycles, cars, or trucks, he was always ready to go "on the road again. " He was a member of the First Church of God. Dwight fought a good fight, he kept the faith, he won the race! A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Carney officiating. Family will receive friends from 12 noon until 3 p.m. Honorary pallbearers: John Coomes, Roger Alfrey, Roger Burke, David Perkins, David Burke, Don Hardin, Mickey Wells, and Fred White. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Morehead-Rowan County EMS, 1350 Divide Hill Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
