Obituary

Douglas Dale Johnson, age 62, of Soldier, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born March 8, 1947, in Rowan County, Kentucky, son of Freda Lambert Johnson of Morehead, Kentucky, and Ivo -Chick- Johnson, who passed away in 1991. Also preceding him in death was one son, Dakota Johnson, in 2000. In addition to his mother, Doug is survived by his wife, Patricia Martin Johnson; three sons, Douglas Dale Johnson of Nashua, New Hampshire, Christopher George Johnson and wife Cindy of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Lakota Lee Johnson of Soldier, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Daniel, Destiney and Ciara Johnson. Other survivors include three brothers, Jimmy Johnson of La Jara, New Mexico, Jesse Johnson of Ashland, Kentucky, and Greg Johnson of Morehead, Kentucky, and one sister, Diane Jones of Ashland, Kentucky. Doug served his country during the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He was awarded three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for Valor for his heroism during ground combat. He loved to fish, collect coins, 45 RPM records and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Doug was his family-s -HERO.- Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in the Ditney Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Monday, September 7, 2009, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at 2 p.m. Interment: Ditney Cemetery
