Lora Dortha Hutchinson Cales, age 93, of Morehead, Kentucky passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Born June 1, 1917, in Morgan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late David Roscoe and Marinda Evelyn Conley Hutchinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Dora Hutchinson Williams and four brothers, Curt Hutchinson, Rev. Clifford Hutchinson, Alpha M. Hutchinson, and David Roscoe Hutchinson, Jr. On January 22, 1938, Dortha was united in marriage to Marvin Taylor Cales, who passed away June 15, 2005, after 67 years of marriage. Their only child, Mary Evelyn Cales Banks, retired Vice President for Administrative Services at St. Claire Medical Center, passed away November 25, 2010. Dortha is survived by three granddaughters, Cheri Tucker of West Chester, Ohio, Col. (ret.) Lora Tucker of Louisville, Kentucky, and Suzy Tucker Creighton and husband Todd of Akron, Pennsylvania; one grandson, Ronald Tucker, Jr., of Florence, Kentucky; and one great-grandson, Tucker Skye Creighton. Other survivors include three nieces, one nephew, and other devoted family members. For more than forty years, Dortha was a self-employed beautician at her shop on Main Street and later in her home on Mellwood Lane. As the loving matriarch of the family, Dortha-s life was centered around supporting and encouraging Marvin, Mary Evelyn, her grandchildren, and beloved great grandson. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, quilting, cooking, and shopping. Dortha was a 69-year member of the Morehead Chapter No. 227 Order of Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron and held several other offices in the Chapter. She was a lifelong member of the First Church of God. Graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Eastern Star Services will be conducted 7:30 p.m. Thursday by Morehead Chapter No. 227 Order of the Eastern Star. Visitation: Thursday, June 2, 2011, 5 p.m.; OES services, 7:30 p.m. Funeral: Friday, June 3, 2011, 10 a.m., Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
