Obituary

Dorsie Clarence Jennings, age 92, of Oak Grove Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the home of his daughter in Olympia. Born January 20, 1921, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Harrison and Maudie B. Day Jennings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Grover Jennings and Clinton Jennings, and three sisters, Goldie Sexton, Bertha Vance, and Mary Jane Jennings Harris Mauk. Dorsie's wife, Leona Riddle Jennings, passed away on October 4, 2004. He is survived by two sons, Ivan Jennings and wife Patricia of Morehead and Herman Jennings of Morehead; two daughters, Edna Lykins and husband Claude of Olympia and Dena Hurst of Morehead; 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey Lykins, Dedra Lykins Buckler, Melinda Jennings, Loretta Barker, and Carrie Hurst; and 5 great grandchildren. Dorsie was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a pipe setter at Lee Clay Products Company for 22 years, a former employee of Homer Gregory Lumber Company and a former school bus driver for the Rowan County school system. Dorsie will be remembered as a wonderful Dad and Papaw. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Hershell Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Harr-Skaggs Cemetery with military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Melinda Jennings, Dedra Buckler, Terry Barker, Justin Barker, Jeffrey Lykins and Clarence Jennings. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Tuesday, January 14, 2014, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. Interment: Harr-Skaggs Cemetery
