Obituary

Dorothy Runyon, age 84, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester. She was born October 11, 1928, in Smackover, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Sam and Lorene Holt Germany. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Runyon, in 1989, and a granddaughter, Becky Runyon Freeman, in 2012. Survivors include two sons, Rev. John (Phyllis) Runyon of Mt. Sterling and Charles (Ruth) Runyon of Hornbeck, Louisiana: three daughters, Audrey (Mike) Arvin of Millington, Tennessee, Vicki (Darrell) Calhoun of Mt. Sterling, and Nina (Mike) Napper of Apopka, Florida; 7 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two brothers; and one sister. Dorothy and Roy resided in Paintsville for a number of years and following his death, Dorothy worked at Wal-Mart for seven years. She moved to Mt. Sterling approximately ten years ago. As a homemaker and creative person, Dorothy enjoyed all kinds of crafts. She was well known for sharing her macram- creations and afghans. Dorothy was a member of Spring Street Baptist Church. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Spring Street Baptist Church with a funeral service immediately following at 7 p.m. with the Rev. John Runyon officiating. Burial will be in Highlands Memorial Park in Paintsville. Pallbearers will be Bill Johnson, Larry May, James Workman, George Harris, Barry Becraft, and Mitch Allen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spring Street Baptist Church, 442 Spring Street, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353 Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 5 p.m-7 p.m., Spring Street Baptist Church, Mt.
