Dorothy Jean Pence - Rivers, age 89, formerly of Natrona Heights, PA., passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in Cartersville, GA. She was born in Wisconsin, October 26, 1927, the daughter of the late Ollie and Dona Pence of Morehead, KY. She grew up and was educated in Morehead, KY. In her 30's she attended Jon Lesko Beauty School and received her Beautician License and Teaching Degree. Later she got her Real Estate License and worked for Holloway Realty in Freeport, PA. She was also the owner of the Rivers Inn, Tarentum, PA. After moving to Cartersville, GA. She worked for IBM. She was always an active person who loved gardening, shopping antiques and taking care of her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons Timothy R. Rivers and James R. Hicks; her sister, Pruda Black; brother in law, Verl Black; nephew, Gary Black; and brother in law, Paul Harris. Survivors include her daughter, Sue Haas (Dave Carne) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, John Haas Jr. (Joan) of Struthers, OH., Shawn Haas (Karen) of Erie, PA., Stephanie Haas-Siegworth (Robert) of Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren, Mariah, Delani and Dalton Haas, Candace Siegworth and Averi Haas; sisters, Freda Harris of Mt. Sterling, KY., and Mary Alice Cole of Sarasota, FL. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Rivers officiating. Burial will be at Bowen Chapel Cemetery, US Rt. 60, Olive Hill, KY. alongside her beloved son, Timothy.
