Obituary

Dorothy -Dot- Collis, 89, of Knapp Avenue, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born December 25, 1921, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Grace Frazee Cunyus. Dot is survived by her husband of 64 years, John E. Collis, whom she wed August 2, 1946, and their son, Eric -Ric- Collis, of Louisville, Kentucky. Dot served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1944 until 1946. She and John came to Morehead in September 1946, where both have been active in community, church, and university events. Dot was a charter member of St. Claire Medical Center Auxiliary, served on the MSU Gala Planning Committee for a number of years, and enjoyed playing bridge with various groups. A member of the United Methodist Church, Dot was an active church volunteer. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2011, at the Morehead United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Nettleton officiating. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the church by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Morehead United Methodist Church Building Fund, 227 W. Main Street, Morehead, KY 40351 Visitation: Saturday, May 21, 2011, 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, May 22, 2011, at 3 p.m. Interment: Lee Cemetery
