Donnie Gene
Plank
Dec 5, 1946 — Jan 10, 2025
Donnie Gene Plank, age 78, of Cranston Road, Morehead, KY, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at his home.
Born December 5, 1946, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Luke Plank and Eula Mae Clark Plank. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Devon Gene Fultz; one brother, Billie Joe Plank; and two sisters, Naomi Sue Plank and Nancy Lambert.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Mary Jefferson Plank, whom he married July 10, 1965; three daughters, Deborah Kelly and Timothy of Georgetown, KY; Donna Gean Plank (fiancé James Collins) of Morehead, and Diana Lynn Russell and Benjamin of Morehead; five grandchildren, Kyle O'Connor, Kayleigh O'Connor, Kori Anna O'Connor, Jonah Luke Justice, and Jacob Russell; and four great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Judy Meadows and Sarah Jane Howard, both of Morehead; five brothers, Jackie Plank, Dallas Plank, Rodney and Terry Plank, and Nicky Plank, all of Morehead, and Gary and Fredia Plank of Vanceburg; a sister-in-law, Berchie Plank, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Following his graduation from Rowan County High School, Donnie and Anna Mary moved to Michigan where he started a rewarding career with GM and attended Oakland Community College and Henry Ford College. Donnie and Anna Mary raised three daughters and were active parents in school and community events during this time. Donnie retired after 30 years with General Motors in Detroit, Michigan, as a certified skilled journeyman. He missed his Kentucky family and was eager to return to his homeplace after retirement. Living in the country with family and friends brought him much joy. Whether he was cutting his neighbor's hay, helping his brothers at Carquest, raising cattle or breeding thoroughbred horses, he enjoyed every moment. Donnie will be remembered as a loving and devoted family member and a best friend to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steven Stanley, Pastor Cecil Ison and Pastor Luther Thomack officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams-Plank Cemetery.
