Donna Carol Thomas Barnhill, age 62, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. She was born August 28, 1946, in Rowan County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Blanchard and Marie Sparkman Thomas. Besides her parents, one niece, Johnna Reck Hardin, preceded her in death. On January 9, 1965, Donna was united in marriage to Jesse K. Barnhill, who passed away June 6, 1984. Donna is survived by two children, Jesse Klinton Barnhill, Jr. of Lexington, Kentucky, and Teressa Lynn Barnhill of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Darrell Thomas of Elliottville, Kentucky; one sister, Verla Hodson of Hillsboro, Ohio; one niece, Nora LaLayne Prater; and two nephews, Mike Prater and Christopher Thomas. In addition to being a homemaker, Donna was a bookkeeper for Martindale Furniture and Hardware for many years and a realtor. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women-s Club, Order of the Eastern Star, and Golden Agers. She was a loving mother and daughter who devoted her life to her children and her parents. She also enjoyed working in her flower beds, spending time with friends, and helping others. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Todd Barnhill, Darrell Thomas, Chris Thomas, Mike Prater, David Sparkman, and John Northcutt.
