Obituary

Donald Keith McCleese, age 66, of Beams Drive, Harrodsburg, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born January 17, 1948, in Lewis County, he was the son of the late Connell McCleese and Alta Mae Kinder McCleese. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Paul, and Robert McCleese. Don is survived by two brothers, Wilford (Donna) McCleese of Flemingsburg and Marvin (Shirley) McCleese of Leesburg, Indiana; two sisters, Shirlene McCleese of Flemingsburg and Nancy (Johnny) Skeens of Ashland; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved poodle, Cody Joe. A retired carpenter and self-employed contractor, Don enjoyed spending time with friends and family on his houseboat on Herrington Lake. A lifelong outdoor enthusiast and expert fisherman, he was the championship fisherman at Herrington Lake for nine consecutive years. Don also enjoyed NASCAR, U.K. sports, and horseracing. He was a member of The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Allan Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery in Lewis County. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Tuesday, April 8, 2014, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. Interment: Thomas Cemetery, Lewis County
