Bro. Don Rivers, age 76, of Open Fork Road, Morehead, went home to be with Lord on Monday, August 27, 2018. Born September 1, 1941, in Upper Tygart, he was a son of the late Frank Rivers and Jessie Evans Rivers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Damon Rivers, on April 30, 1990. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vickie Plank Rivers, whom he married December 20, 1974; one son, Derrick Rivers of Morehead; one brother, Mike Rivers of Muncie, Indiana; three grandchildren, Jacinda, Gavin and Kason Rivers; several nieces and nephews; and extended family members. He also leaves behind his church family and many dear friends. Don served in the U.S. Army, was a self-employed brick mason, and a pastor for over 30 years at Haldeman Church of God. He enjoyed preaching about the word of God, caring for his church, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and taking care of others. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Bobby Day, Bro. Mitch Roe, and Bro. Ron Clatos officiating. Burial will follow in New Sill Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Darrell Nickell, Ritchie Wheeler, Jack Pennington, J. B.
