Don Allen, age 57, of Doe Run Drive, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009, at his residence. Born April 14, 1952, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James Monroe and Liddie Taulbee Allen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Knova, George, and Phillip Allen, and two sisters, Opal Pugh, and an infant sister. Don is survived by his wife, Barbara Crase Allen; one brother, Mitchell Allen of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; three sisters, Cora Allen and Maudie Prater, both of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Joyce Short of Bath County, Kentucky; a step daughter, Linda Oney of Frankfort, Kentucky; two step sons, Tony Oney of Sharpsburg, Kentucky, and David Oney of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; four step grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. Don was a retired salesman and a member of the United Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the Brushy Fork United Baptist Church at Caney, Kentucky, with Randall Crase, Hobert Dunn and Johnny Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in the Morris Cemetery in Morgan County, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Zachary Oney, Eric Lawill, Tony Allen, Dennis Prater, Ralph Prater, Shawn Short, Marty Short, and Keith Prater. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, Kentucky.
