Diana Sue Black Mabry, age 70, of Paris Lane, Morehead, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born April 23, 1946, at Sharkey in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late David Arthur and Anna Layne Stamper Black. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Rachel Pennington; one son-in-law, Matthew W. Smith; two sisters, Maria Johnson and Shirley Black; and three brothers, Viril, Raymond, and James Black. Diana is survived by her husband of 54 years, William Dale Mabry, Sr.; four children: Laura Ferguson of Morehead, William Dale Mabry, Jr., and Tonya of Morehead, Phillip Mabry and Samantha of Owingsville, and Jenny Smith of Morehead; 11 grandchildren: Waylon (Melissa), Shane (Cynthia), Jordon (Tamara) Pennington; Dakota (Jenna) Barker; Brittney (Jeremy) Purnell; Joseph (Monica) Mabry and Haleigh Mabry; Tosha Evans; Lance, Bret, and McKinnley Smith; 13 great grandchildren: Sara, Kelsie, Jace, Aubree and Addilyn Pennington; Parker and Kaysen Mabry; Mahala, Kendra and Jonathan Evans; Bryce, Matthew, and Kaden Smith. Other survivors include two sisters, Gladys Snipes of Morehead and Odessa Martin of Greensboro, Indiana; three brothers, David Black, Jr. of Rennselaer, Indiana, Arlie Black of Remington, Indiana, and Roger Black of Hillsboro; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives; her church family; and many friends. Diana was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who enjoyed taking care of her family. She loved the Lord and was a member of Sharkey Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Sharkey Baptist Church with Pastor Harley Sexton, Jr., and Pastor Elijah Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in the W. D. Mabry Cemetery on Paris Lane. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at Sharkey Baptist Church, 2555 Sharkey Road, Morehead.
