Obituary

Dennis Black, age 58, of Monticello Drive, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at his residence. He was born April 25, 1955, in Rowan County, a son of the late Wilbert and Missouri Combs Black. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis Black in 1990 and Kenneth D. 'Kenbo' Black in 2011, and one sister, Helen Whitt, in 2008. Dennis is survived by three brothers, Palmer Black of Knox, Indiana, and Wilbert 'Bug' Black and Gus Black, both of Morehead; three sisters, Vivian Spurlock of Goshen, Indiana, Joan Fouch of Morehead, and Bonnie Jones of Salt Lick; several nieces and nephews; other family; and friends. Dennis was an employee of Allen's IGA for a number of years, a landlord, and a self-employed carpenter. Although he enjoyed all types of music, he especially enjoyed singing and playing the guitar with his family gospel group, 'the Voice of Praise.' Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Thursday, April 24, 2014, after 4 p.m. Funeral: Friday, April 25, 2014, at 3 p.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery
