Obituary

Delno Elmer "Jonsie" Jones, age 89, of Eden Hollow Road, Morehead, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, at UK St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

He was born April 7, 1935, in Clearfield, and was a son of the late John Sanford Jones and Bessie Hargis Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Wilford, Sherdon, Dwight Dale, Clayton, Vercil, Teddy, Wade, and Glendon Jones, and four sisters, Amanda, Juanita, Kathy, and Carrie.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dale Easterling Jones, whom he married October 2, 1964; one son, Jeff Jones and wife Lisa; one daughter, Tabatha Lynn Jones, all of Morehead; six grandchildren, Dakota Jones, Samantha Jones, Richard Bradley, Zachary Jones, Cheyanne Jones, and Elizabeth Jones; and four great grandchildren, Caitlin Jones, Jerry Shelton, Alice Shelton, and Madalyn Bradley.

Also surviving are two sisters, Ethel Jones of Clearfield and Olonia Livingood of Morehead; a host of nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. His first job was at the Dr. Pepper Plant in Morehead where he worked for several years and he also worked at Patton's Drive-In.  Jonsie was a mechanic for Hamilton Lumber Company and retired after many years of dedicated service.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed building furniture, hunting, fishing, taking care of his garden, spending time with family, especially 4-wheeling with his grandchildren. Jonsie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Greg Hignite and Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow at Slaty Point Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers:  Timmy Jones, Doug Jones, Jim Livingood, Dakota Jones, Richard Bradley, and Zach Jones.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY
